“Sensory Awareness Workshop for Parents/Caregivers: Unveiling the 8 Sensory Systems”

8 sensory systems? Say what? Yes, you heard that right! This workshop is for any parent or caregiver looking to gain a better understanding of the 8 sensory systems in our bodies. Please come with questions and leave with a greater awareness regarding you, your child, or baby’s sensory systems.

I am Jessica Jordan and I am originally an east coaster that gravitated out west after graduating with my Masters in Occupational Therapy in 2016 from Stony Brook University in New York.  I’ve worked and learned in a variety of settings including but not limited to the school system, motor coaching camps and opportunities, a sensory clinic, an out-patient clinic, after school programs, acute inpatient settings, hand therapy clinic, and some of my most crucial learning has happened as being a mom to 2 girls. At Sunrise Therapies, I strive to incorporate a holistic, kindness-focused, and child-centered approach into all sessions, consultations, collaborations with your families and any teams I work with.

    "Introducing Complimentary foods for baby"

    Baby’s First Foods

The road to a healthy, happy relationship with food starts as soon as your baby takes their first bite. But, figuring out where to begin can be overwhelming and sometimes a little scary. During this class we will discuss:

    • Infant nutrition needs and key nutrients for development

    • Readiness for solids and where to begin

    • Different feeding approaches (baby led weaning, purees, combo)

    • Developmentally appropriate food preparation and safety

    • How and when to introduce potential allergens

    • Raising a happy, curious eater

    • Favorite utensils and gear

Foods before age one are a time for fun, curiosity, and exploration. I encourage you to bring this mindset to the table (pun intended) so that we can raise the next generation of foodies together.

I am Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, Lactation Educator (soon to be IBCLC), Postpartum Doula and mom of 2. I am passionate about helping mamas, and their families, to thrive during pregnancy, postpartum and beyond.
